Justice Minister Alfonso
Bonafede said on captured former leftist terrorist Cesare
Battisti Tuesday "I simply said that in Italy no one can escape
justice and if crimes are committed those who did so must pay".
Responding to a query if phrases like "rot in jail" from
Interior Minister Matteo Salvini clash with prison's
rehabilitation purposes, he said "without any harshness on the
individual but with a precise claim of the fact that justice in
Italy is a fundamental value".
He said "those who make mistakes must pay".
