Pope Francis said Monday he was open to the possibility of a synod for Italian bishops.
"It might be useful to address in this context the possible scant collegiality and participation in the management of the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI) and in the determination of the pastoral plans and the planned economic and financial commitments," he told the CEI's 73rd general assembly.
"One should proceed from low to high and vice versa," said the pope.
